Arm plastic surgery is done when the skin becomes limp and saggy on your upper arms. Most often, severe weight loss causes this condition, but there are also other causes. The operation is done under general anaesthesia and takes about an hour.
If you’ve lost weight or, for some other reason, the skin on your upper arms has become limp and saggy, an arm plastic surgery is the best way to fix it. For minor sagging in just the upper parts of the upper arm, this can be done via a shorter incision in the armpit. Most often, however, it’s limp and saggy along the entire upper arm, and then you need to make an incision along the arm almost down to the elbow. We then remove the sagging skin and subcutaneous fat. The operation is done under general anaesthesia and takes about an hour.
An overnight stay at the clinic is usually recommended. The scar is taped, with a tight bolero type bandage over the tape. After about two weeks, you make a return visit to check healing and bandages. Sick leave is 2-3 weeks depending on activity. Exercise should be avoided for four weeks. Initially, the scars are red and hard but after six months they start to fade and soften.
